Win a night with Michael Jackson's stuff
The promoters of a Michael Jackson memorabilia exhibit in Japan are holding a contest to win a one-time opportunity to spend the night with the King of Pop's possessions.
Beginning Sunday, fans are expected to line up to buy tickets costing as much as $1,000 US for a chance to stay overnight inside the Tokyo Tower with the Neverland Collection on June 25, the anniversary of the entertainer's death.
The randomly selected winners will be able to sleep next to a huge assortment of Jackson's belongings, including his 1967 Rolls-Royce, crystal-studded gloves, and costumes from his Thriller music video.
"The idea may sound a bit odd to Western cultures, but in Japan the tradition of being with the remains and possessions of passed loved ones on the anniversary of their passing is an important ritual," said Hiroyuki Takamura, a Tokyo Tower spokesperson.
The Neverland Collection has drawn more than 300,000 visitors since it opened May 1.
