作为还乡（homecoming）的《同基因》（Homogenic）：

“虽然在录制《同基因》时，我还没有回到冰岛，但它对我来说就是一种‘还乡’，这是一种内心感受。《同基因》中的音乐与我童年时听到的音乐十分相象，这是一张十足冰岛风格的唱片，尤其在节奏上。这并不是一张过去未曾有过的唱片，它老早就已经存在了，只不过还没有被物化罢了。种种声音，种种节奏，种种情感，它们统统都在我的大脑里，我将它们注入到了《同基因》之中。唱片的名字实际上暗示了这些音乐或多或少都来自同一方向：心灵，因为家才正是你心灵的栖息之所。这一次我不希望别人过多地干涉我的创作……”[Björk，1997年9月 (来源：bjork.com，SloterdijkAn译) ]

处于沉静状态的《同基因》

“这并不意味着录制《同基因》是件轻松事儿，而是正好相反。但是每个月我还是偶尔能休息几次的，我做得到。我只能有很短的时间完全沉静下来，我要充分利用这些时间。所以当你听这张CD的时候，你应该想：Wow！比耶克终于沉静下来了，但这只是它的表现而已。专辑中的歌曲只是表象出了夹在繁忙之中的一个个沉静的时刻……”
