Michael Jackson to develop Bahrain’s entertainment industry
Realising the great potential the Gulf region has to offer in the music and entertainment sector, Michael Jackson is in discussions with Ahmed Abubaker Janahi, owner and founder of AAJ Holdings Ltd. (AAJH), to provide the company and its subsidiaries with consultancy services for the development and creation of a full spectrum of entertainment experiences, ranging from theme parks to music academies. Bahrain-based AAJH has interests in various companies around the world.
The owner’s group of companies concentrates on projects involving urban developments in general, among other interests. He believes that stagnant architectural structures need content in the form of entertainment to revive them which is where the music star will play an integral role.
AAJH was instrumental in the creation of the $1.4 billion Bahrain Financial Harbour and the $15 billion Blue City in Oman, the Sultanate’s largest real-estate project. The latter development will be a completely new city with many luxury hotels for at least 200,000 citizens.
Following the successful launch of Blue City in Oman, AAJH is working to develop a major investment and infrastructure development project in Bahrain. Janahi, Vice-Chairman of ASIT and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the holding company, told Bahrain Tribune that the Blue City project has re-inforced Bahrain’s economic position as a leading banking and financial sector in the region.
The entrepreneur, one of the pioneer members of the team which had launched the $1.4 billion BFH in Bahrain, said he was keen to bring a major investment project to Bahrain. He added: “The successful launch of Blue City is proof of the potential of AAJH and ASIT. We will continue to work for the development of the Kingdom as Bahrain has a lot of talent in all vital sectors.
“However, there is a need to concentrate on major development projects and how the Kingdom would attract more and more direct foreign investments in various sectors.” The Blue City project had been conceived by a group of Bahrainis and AAJH. The holding company is currently involved in various development projects in the Kingdom.
