"The Jackson 5..........Million", Film Of The Jackson Trial

Okay everyone…. This is going to be big… I received a phone call from an independent film producer who I met whilst I was at the trial last year. She explained to me that the footage she had is now going to be edited, it had been held up due to unforeseen circumstances but she had finally chosen her editor to put the 40 hours + footage together. Her name is Caroline Ledgin and she told me that the film is not going to be based on the trial per sae, but on the fans and their individual journeys. She was not a big fan of MJ, though she did not have any reason to dislike him before she decided to start the filming. All she wanted was to go at it from a fair point of view and capture peoples reactions to particular happenings that unfolded from the beginning of the fans gathering at the start of Jury selection right through till Verdict day. Before the film has been fully edited, her production company have made a small 15-minute teaser. The teaser has been created for the purpose of advertising the film and to be shown to Networks to see how they respond. She has made it clear to me that the ‘teaser’ does not reflect the overall layout of what the final film will be like once it’s completed, but it’s just to give you an example of how some of the personal interviews were captured. Basically the way it was put to me was that “if you are even a little bit excited by the 15 minute film, just wait until the final piece is drafted together.” There is no way interviews alone will carry the film through, but exciting and explosive footage that only her production team managed to get whilst there. Like she said, all this has yet to be seen by anyone outside of her organisation. I always thought it would be a matter of time before a Movie of some sort will surface of what really went on with fans during the trial, but always feared that something negative would be at the forefront of it all. I guess we can breathe a sigh of relief that actually something positive is in the works. There where so much film crew there and people making documentaries, however at the time (and I can only speak for myself), you didn’t really get consumed by it all because so much more other random stuff was happening around you it became difficult to focus on any one thing for a long period of time other than what was going on in the courtroom. The producer of this film has no agenda, this is her first project and she wants to make sure that the fans will be happy with the end product. Caroline wants to show the world just how so many people exploited their presence from turning up at the trail with certain opinions (for ex. showing footage of haters who turned up to protest at Jury selection but at the same time wanting to advertise their business/promote their company to the world’s media), even though they did not even have any knowledge of what was actually going on. The film will feature talks with everyone from members of the media and their thoughts on how information was being portrayed to the public, to your ‘average Joe’ and their opinions based on what the media were feeding them. Everyone who came to support Michael from every corner of the globe each had a story to tell. This film will tell some of their stories, so the rest of the world will come to understand just exactly what it was that took them out there in the first place. Everyone who participated gave their consent and I feel so privileged that I am part of it, despite it all seeming like a distant memory, a blur even. When I watched it just now for the first time and seen myself it was strange, it's like I watched it from an outside prespective, like the person I was watching wasn't me, if that makes sense? Probably because I look so so different now I dunno, but it was strange. The teaser brought back all the emotions again and I feel that the final product will have us remembering how good it was to have supported this man right from the beginning.
