Aphrodite Jones前天上电台节目(The Air Americans )接受采访。
AJ segment -- Air America's Air American Show, Mark Riley host 6/13/07
Riley - amazing to him this story; so he asked was AJ initially anti-MJ
AJ - absolutely, jaded, had made up her mind before the trial; followed the 'pack' mentality who very much wanted to see him convicted. Most of her collegues felt the same way
Riley - what changed your mind?
AJ - talked about the day of the verdict. Was on O'Reilly's show talking about the outcome and Bill wanted to really know what she thought about the jury's decision. Told Bill that the jury did the right thing
AJ - Added that media was looking at MJ the man and the atmospherics surrounding the trial, the celebrities involved, the fans, 'pajama day', etc., and not at the facts of the trial. Media so enamored with the celebrity end. Some people had made deals with the prosecution and was gunning for MJ to be guilty. If MJ was behind bars, it would be a billion dollar global business because of the news stories to be had.
Riley - people was making deals to cover MJ behind bars?
AJ -yes, but did not put it in the book because she can not totally substantiate it, but it was a few people involved with specific news outlets who wanted the exclusive rights to cover MJ behind bars, whether he was on suicide watch, who visited him, what he looked like, etc.
Riley - CNN hires a full time celeb reporter, some say that CNN going down the tubes for it
AJ - Media has become so celeb obsessed not covering the important national, global issues because celeb obsession has become a diversion
Riley - ask about the Martin Bashir video
AJ - MB made his name off of MJ's back, now at ABC. Had not really done anything before except the Princess Diana piece and that is how MB got in with MJ. Don't think that MJ had advisors during that time. MJ believed that MB would focused on his love and humanity of children. MB totally lied. Recalled what MJ said about sleeping with children, MB's playing up what he said. Says that the comments was totally out of context and MB manipulated the program. MJ is someone who has been a superstar from the age of 8 and supporting his whole family and having to deal with a bunch of adults. He's had a lifetime of being everyone else's support and people wanting things from him. It's not just his wanting a childhood - he just doesn't trust adults. MB wanted to make a name for himself and wanted to be the one who took took MJ down. Talked about MB being brought up on charges for unethical reporting in the UK.
MJ can't do anything without being bombarded, so he created NLVR to create his own world, but it gets overblown because of the number of people needed to run the place, so the place was always filled with people and tourists, then so MJ locks himself away in his bedroom so that he can have total peace (which is as large as anyone's apartment) so of course, he entertains his guest there.
MR - The past allegations. MJ didn't seem to try to change his perceptions of what people thought of him.
AJ - He did because of the 2 hr video he did that was fully presented in the court that was cut out of the MB doc, he's wasn't oblivious to what was going on. The video came across as very real, because it was outtake footage and MJ's own videographer was there to film and all of it was very convincing to the jury. MB had total editorial control of the documentary and really went after MJ. I think AJ used the word 'evil' in how MB went after MJ.
