Although he did not invent its mechanics and has NEVERclaimed to have done so, Michael Jackson came up with the name "moonwalk" and made it one of the most recognizable dance moves in history.
Backslides have been performed on numerous earlier occasions, recorded as early as 1955 ending a performance by tap dancer Bill Bailey(lz的视频)
Jeffrey Daniel was "moonwalking" in a performance of Shalamar's "A Night To Remember" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ImkBve8OW8 (1982 年的视频 from 1:44).
Daniel was the first person to moonwalk on television, during a performance of Shalamar's "A Night to Remember" on, the British music show, Top of the Pops. The song was a hit in 1982, almost a year before Michael Jackson moonwalked for the first time on the Motown 25: Yesterday, Today, Forever television broadcast. Jackson was a big fan in the 1970's of Soul Train.
though it was not confirmed, and there are at least three other acts/artists claim they 'taught' Jackson the moonwalk). One of those young dancers was 17 year old Jeffrey Daniel. He was hired as co-choreographer on the "Bad" and "Smooth Criminal" videos in which he also starred with his 'dance brother' Casper Geron. He was later employed as a creative and choreography consultant on his world tours and the video Ghosts. Daniel's music and dance expertise was then employed when he became a consultant at the MJJ Productions
