最近,我意外地在网上看到了一篇名为“美国版宋祖德恶搞杰克逊”的文章,似乎是发表在广州日报上的,文章通篇就伊恩•霍尔珀林的新书“Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson”发表评论,认为此书的目的是为了诋毁杰克逊,并大放厥词。作者王佩俨然一副号召歌迷声讨此书的正义面容。
看完之后我不禁又好气又好笑,这本书在美国上市以来造成了轰动,恰好我在美国的朋友买了此书,并且在阅读后寄给了我。同样是迈克尔歌迷的我也就有幸第一时间阅读了本书。中国有句老话叫:兼听则明,偏信则暗,又说什么事情只有调查研究才最有发言权。我不知道王佩是从何判断这本书说迈克尔•杰克逊就是个娈童者,还说书中证明说这在杰克逊的圈子里尽人皆知。或许这位作者只是由于没有看到原书妄加揣测,不管怎么说,作为一名看过此书的读者,我要说的就是:这本书完全是在证明迈克尔•杰克逊的无辜,霍尔珀林用有力的证据证明了迈克尔•杰克逊的周围充斥着贪婪的人们,他正是被这些人陷害和欺骗,最终走向死亡的。
看完本书我被深深地打动了,我特别摘了“星期日泰晤士报”记者发表的一篇社论中的一段,以此来更加证明伊恩•霍尔珀林的这本书在大多数真正阅读过它的读者心目中是怎样的发人深省:
迈克尔•杰克逊的私人传记作家霍尔珀林通过查阅法庭记录,了解迈克尔•杰克逊私生活的大量事实证据以及作者个人大胆的猜想及预测,写出了Unmasked: The Final Years of Michael Jackson一书,时间跨度从1993年第一次涉及猥亵儿童事件到上个月杰克逊的去世。事实真相以及围绕真相的各种错综复杂的人际关系也将大白于天下。
霍尔珀林是一名加拿大记者,曾经是一名音乐人。他决心把杰克逊的那些事件真相查清楚,不论结局如何。现在有些人靠拼拼凑凑把一些资料粘贴在一起成为传记,或者诽谤他人,然后再以此赚钱。无疑,许多人会把霍尔珀林与这样人划上等号。但事实是,霍尔珀林为了这本书花费了多年的时间,而这本Unmasked根本就不是那种耸人听闻的爆料,这一切都使霍尔珀林与这些人界限分明。
过去在揭露时尚界以及柯特•科本的死亡当中,霍尔珀林因为他的执着及擅于耐心培养内线而著称,而他的这一调查方法也再一次用于对杰克逊的私人生活调查当中。浮华城标准的恶棍演员阵容、江湖郎中、机会主义者、说谎者、科学教信徒充斥在这本书的每一页。随着杰克逊于2003年从性侵犯一位未成年人——加文•阿维佐的指控中被释放以后,作者承认自己设计了一系列方式,要把杰克逊“交付审判,使他为他变态的行为付出代价”。然而,霍尔珀林发现他的调查越深入,他所坚信的事实就越微弱。他强调说最初真相的描述扭曲了杰克逊最后的岁月,然后他几乎彻底重新写过该书。最终,霍尔珀林得出结论“我寻找不到一丝证据证明杰克逊性侵犯过儿童。”那些所谓看到性侵犯的证人并不是冲到警察面前去申诉他们不停变换着的故事,而是直接投入了那些挥舞着支票的专门登载丑闻和杂谈的报刊以及电视节目的怀抱。在道德本能与人的唯利是图发生冲突时,金钱每次都是获胜者。霍尔珀林几乎没有时间面对这些人,他对这些人也没有任何信任。(原评述附录如下)

Truth, and people’s relationship with it, emerges as the most disturbing aspect of Ian Halperin’s forensic trawl through the evidence and conjecture about Michael Jackson’s private life and predilections, from the first allegations of child abuse in 1993 to the singer’s death last month at the age of 50. A Canadian journalist and former musician, Halperin comes to the story determined to hold to the truth, no matter where it leads him. He will doubtless be lumped in with every cut-and-paste merchant now bashing out hagiographies and hatchet jobs, but the fact that he has been working on the book for several years, and that Unmasked is resolutely non-sensationalist, should excuse him from such company.
Past exposés of the fashion industry and the circumstances of Kurt Cobain’s death have earned Halperin a reputation for thoroughness and the patient nurturing of key insider contacts. That approach is again brought to bear on a life that was arguably messier, madder and more dysfunctional than any yet witnessed, even in Hollywood. Tinseltown’s standard cast of crooks, mountebanks, opportunists, liars and Scientologists crowd the pages of a book that the author admits he devised as a means of bringing Jackson “to justice…and [making] him pay for his sickening acts”, following his acquittal on charges of molesting the teenager Gavin Arvizo in 2003. Yet the deeper he delves, the more Halperin finds his absolutism weakening as facts, and, he emphasises, truth first twist the narrative of Jackson’s final years and then rewrite it almost completely. By the end, Halperin is forced to conclude: “I could not find a single shred of evidence that Jackson has molested a child.” So-called witnesses to the abuse rush not to the police with their constantly changing stories but straight into the arms of cheque-waving scandal sheets and television shows. In the battle between moral instincts and mercenary ones, money wins every time. Halperin has little time for, or faith in, any of them.

现在我最喜爱的流行天王已经离去,他将在天堂里永远放歌,作为他的歌迷我希望一些人不要扰乱视听,把一本原本可以为他洗刷清白,让他获得真正的理解的书说成是恶搞。借用张爱玲的一篇文章标题:必也已正名乎?
我们现在要做的就是为本书正名,为迈克尔正名。停止那些不负责任的所谓评述吧,哪怕只是为了缅怀我们已逝的天王。 |
