Tell the truth. You’ve always secretly thought the dance sequence from Michael Jackson’s classic video for “Thriller” was the coolest and wished you could get in on the action, right? If you act quickly, you’ll get your chance.

Concert promoter AEG, Clear Channel Radio Los Angeles and “Thriller” tribute organization Thrill The World are organizing an attempt to set a world record for the most people dancing simultaneously to the song. The event marks the release of Jackson’s concert documentary “This Is It” and the opening of the new Regal Cinemas L.A. Live Stadium 14 theatres in Los Angeles

The mega dance party will take place Oct. 24 at 5:30 p.m. PST at more than 300 participating locations worldwide, including L.A. Live’s Nokia Plaza which will serve as the official West Coast headquarters.

Participants must pre-register online at ThrillTheWorldLive.com, where they’ll be able to view the choreography for the number in a training video posted there.

AEG and Thrill The World will also be holding live instructional sessions in the Southern California area over the next few weeks. Complete details and schedules are available on the Web site.

In case you’ve been living under a rock (or stuck up in the air in a homemade hot air balloon), “This Is It,” which documents the rehearsals for Jackson’s comeback tour that never was, opens worldwide on Oct. 27 and will play for a limited run of two weeks
