因迈克尔·杰克逊（Michael Jackson）的突然离世而被怀疑犯有杀人罪的私人医生康拉德·穆瑞（Conrad Murray）最近再度陷进拖欠子女赡养费官司中。本周一11月16日，穆瑞与法庭达成协议，同意支付拖欠的赡养费，这让他避免了牢狱之灾。
之前，该家庭法庭曾宣判让穆瑞支付一个来自加州的母亲和她10岁的儿子自08年10月份至今的赡养费。但是穆瑞并未现身法庭听审，因此拉斯维加斯公诉人提出申请逮捕穆瑞的逮捕令。
在周一的法庭上，穆瑞当场支付给该母子七百美元并且向她们保证会支付另一笔三百多美元的费用。但是，该女子曾向法庭提交了一封信，信上说她可以在穆瑞以后每月按时支付一千零三美元的赡养费的前提下，免除他之前拖欠的一万五千五百美元。当天该女子并未出庭，也并未在庭审结束后回复任何电话留言的询问。
庭审法官杰拉德·哈德卡索（Gerald Hardcastle）对该女子的宽宏大量感到非常惊讶。他在法庭上审讯穆瑞是否曾胁迫这位女性作出这项决定，因为法官认为她十分“有雅量”。
穆瑞否认自己曾胁迫这位女性。同时，公诉人也称自己和这位女士谈过，她的决定完全出于自愿。
“我替这位女士感到不公平。”法官说，“但是这是她自己的决定、她自己的钱。那么就按照她的意愿去执行。”
据称，在当天庭审结束后，穆瑞和他的律师从法庭急急忙忙地出来后就迅速钻进了一辆车扬长而去。而记者们则被法庭警卫要求呆在法庭上。
法院发言人称当时他也并不清楚为什么媒体会被限制采访：“我想法警会这么做应该是考虑到公众安全的问题。”
穆瑞的律师克里斯托弗·亚伦（Christopher Aaron）曾向该母子提出，在穆瑞尚未从杰克逊案件中脱离出来的时候，容许他们喘口气再处理赡养费案件。
亚伦说，穆瑞没有办法支付这些赡养费用，因为自从杰克逊在6月25日去世后，穆瑞因外界种种压力被迫停止行医并且还搬了家。“穆瑞现在是既没人雇用也不敢雇用的状态。”他还说周一法庭上支付的现金还是一个好心人捐助的。“穆瑞不是一个欠债不还的人，这位女士能够免除他之前所拖欠的费用也是因为她了解穆瑞现在的处境。”
