Stacy on Stern
Thursday, March 09, 2006
That was The Times-Tribune’s City Hall reporter Stacy Brown on Howard Stern’s radio show Wednesday, and on CNBC’s “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch” on Tuesday.
Mr. Stern and Mr. Deutsch wanted Stacy to discuss a big idea Jermaine Jackson came up with in 2003 — a book called “Legacy, Surviving the Best and the Worst.” Mr. Jackson had asked Stacy, the author of “Michael Jackson, The Man Behind the Mask,” to write a proposal on “Legacy,” a book about “the Jackson family, particularly Michael, and his problems, legal and otherwise,” Stacy said.
It became a hot topic and made Stacy a sought-after talk-show guest after The New York Daily News wrote about it Sunday, even though Stacy says there are no plans for “Legacy” to be written or published.
Stacy turned his cell phone off after it reached message capacity Sunday night, but not before taking a call at his North Scranton home from Bonnie Tiegel, the supervising segment producer for “Entertainment Tonight.” Ms. Tiegel called from the Red Carpet at the Academy Awards.
Stacy declined her invitation but accepted Mr. Deutsch’s “for two reasons. It was a phone interview, I didn’t have to go to the studio, although they showed my photo throughout the whole thing,” and because my good friend Diane Dimond, who works for CNBC, asked me to.”
He accepted Mr. Stern’s invitation, “honestly, because I was afraid not to,” Stacy said, adding that the shock jock “was very nice. I was pleasantly surprised.”
On both shows, Stacy discussed the “Legacy” proposal and “Michael Jackson, The Man Behind the Mask,” which he wrote with Michael Jackson’s long-time publicist Bob Jones. |
