Pop legend Michael Jackson has come back to the stage at Tokyo's MTV Awards last Saturday. It was Jackson's first public appearance since his acquittal from child molestation charges last June. He was still the center of media attention, whenever the cameras could catch him...
In the past year, the pop icon has maintained almost total media silence - except for a few appearances at some charity activities.
Jackson's trip to Japan this time was, of course, not just for an award he also found time in his jammed schedule to visit local orphanages.
At the MTV Awards celebration, the stars who took the stage included Hoobastank, John Legend, Kelly Rowland, Rihanna, and South Korean heartthrob Se7en.
But it was Michael Jackson who stole the show...
He took home the "Legend Award" - and drew the most enthusiastic screaming from the Japanese fans. Michael Jackson said, "I love you... ...and thank you for your loyalty."
Jackson also brought his three children with him.
It's the first leg of a swing through Asia that'll take him to Singapore, Shanghai, and Hong Kong.
After the ceremony, the singer voiced his appreciation for his Japanese fans - for their everlasting support, especially when he was in a downturn.
His plan of releasing a brand new album couldn't be a better way to repay his fans' loyalty, nor a better rehabilitation for the pop legend himself.
