Jackson party tickets are a sell-out
TICKETS for a party being organised to welcome the family of Michael Jackson to North Devon sold out within days of going on sale.
Just hours after news of the special evening at the Durrant House Hotel, Northam, was revealed in the Gazette , 160 VIP table seats were sold via the event website www.mjjparty.com. By Thursday evening, 80 seated tickets had been bought by fans. And by Saturday afternoon, 30 remaining standing-only tickets were snapped up by fans hoping to catch a glimpse of their idols at the event on Sunday, June 8.
Fans from all over the UK and Europe will be descending on North Devon for the event in aid of the North Devon Hospice, with Jackson followers from as far afield as Switzerland, Denmark, Italy, the Netherlands and Germany among the lucky few to have got their hands on tickets.
"I can safely say that it's been the busiest week of my life," said organiser, 18-year-old North Devon College student George Warren.
"The response has been amazing. Within hours of the Gazette coming out and the website going live, fans started discussing the event on on-line forums.
"I've been fielding a lot of questions from people wanting to know more about the event: how they can get to North Devon; where they can stay; and will Michael be coming!
"I'm really pleased that roughly 50 per cent of the tickets have been bought by local people in North Devon though - and that is thanks to the coverage in the Gazette.
"It should be a great event and I'm really looking forward to it."
George, from Barnstaple, added that since news of the event broke, he had been inundated by requests from performers, desperate to appear at the event.
The four-hour show will feature some of the biggest names in the Michael Jackson tribute circuit and former Jackson Five member Tito Jackson has confirmed that he, and "other Jackson family members" will be in attendance.
