Troubled music legend Michael Jackson is set to perform a residency at London's vast O2 arena next year, it has been reported.
Jackson, 49 - whose finances have taken a downturn since his 2005 molestation case, hopes the lengthy run will ease his money problems.
A source said: "The general consensus is that Michael has the fan base to attract enough people from all over the world to make this a huge success.
"Booking The O2 up for more than a couple of nights might seem a big gamble on his and his promoters' part, but just think of the history. People will flock to witness Michael cover his back catalog."
AEG present David Campbell refused to confirm the rumors, but revealed a big star would be coming to the 20,000 capacity arena next autumn.
He said: "We have two big residencies booked for the fourth quarter of 2008."
Whitney Houston is rumored to be the other artist taking up a "big residency" next year.
If the proposed shows go ahead, Jacko will be following in the footsteps of his former pop rival Prince who thrilled the UK capital with a 21-night residency last summer.

I'm so excited that Michael Jackson is going to be performing once more in the UK. I saw him 15 years ago and he was amazing. Now my daughter will have the opportunity to see the King live.

i hope he goes ahead with these or that the rumours are true. My mum got to see him when she was in her 20's i think, at poole lighthouse (only 1,000 people!) when he was part of the jackson 5. nobody big ever comes here in poole anymore, but it would be an honour to see him. you would feel extremely privileged to be that close to him, seriously. I would also love to see whitney at the o2, you just can't beat her ballads!

Oh my god, I so hope, that this is true. I will do anything I can to get to London, if the rumours are true! I have been a fan for five years now, and I actually couldn't get myself to believe that I would ever have and opportunity to get to see him live.
He is the greatest artist of all time!

I really hope Michael goes ahead with this. I have been to all of his concerts in the uk so far which isnt a lot. He could make so much money from this so i really hope he takes this oppurtunity to hit back and show all them w*nkers who wanted to see him suffer that they havent seen the last of him yet and that he hasnt been beaten. It will be great for the fans to!!
