KAREN BRANDO. After being sworn in Mr Mesereau conducts direct examination of Ms Karen Brando. At the start of testimony it was established that Ms Brando is the daughter in law of screen legend Marlon Brando and is the mother of five children Faustif, Franco, Shane, Nelson and Prudence. Ms Brando who has visited Neverland ranch many times was staying at the ranch when she first met Janet Arvizo several years ago. Her fisrt conversation with Janet Arvizo occurred in the kitchen at Neverland Ranch. Q. And what do you recall her doing in the kitchen? A. She came up to me and told me she was going home with me. Q. She told you she was going home with you? A. Yes. Q. Is this the first time you ever spoke to her? A. Yes. Q. Were you surprised by that comment? A. No, because I was going with the driver. Q. How long had you been at the ranch at that point? A. Two days. Q. And were your children there as well? A. Yes. Q. Who of your children were at the ranch? A. Prudence was there. And I’m not sure if Shane was there. Q. Okay. Now, how old was Prudence at that point? A. Seven. Q. And how about Shane? A. 14. Q. Okay. And had you arranged or had someone arranged for a driver to take you home? A. Yes. Q. And how was that arranged, if you remember? A. My husband Miko came up to me and told me that he was going to stay and that Gary would drive me home. Q. Okay. Was your husband Miko at the ranch at that point? A. Yes. Q. Okay. This wasn’t the first time you’d visited Neverland, right? A. No. Q. You’d been there many times before this? A. Yes. Q. So what were you doing in the kitchen when Janet Arvizo came up to you? A. I was standing -- I was just standing there.I was standing kind of in the hallway right between the kitchen and the breakfast nook. Q. And do you know about what time of day this 11800 was? A. It was early evening, around six o’clock. Q. And do you recall the date being March 12th, 2003? A. I don’t remember. Q. Okay. Do you recall if it was March of 2003? Don’t know? A. I’m sorry. Q. Okay. All right. So Janet Arvizo came up to you and said, “I’m going home with you”? A. Yes. Q. And had you met her any other time before that? A. No. Q. Did she introduce herself? A. No. Q. What did you say when she -- when this stranger walked up and said, “I’m going home with you”? A. I didn’t say anything to her. I couldn’t. I wasn’t driving. Q. Did you and she have a conversation? A. No. Q. How long did she talk to you about going home? A. She just told me she was going home with me. Q. And after she said that, what do you recall her doing? A. She just walked off. Q. And what did you do after that? A. I went to Miko and told him I didn’t want her going home with me. But he said, “It’s okay. Just make sure she gets dropped off at her house first so she doesn’t know where we live.” Q. And did you go home that evening? A. Yes. Q. Did she go with you? A. No, she came up to me about an hour later and said she changed her mind, she was going to stay. Mr Mesereau proceeded to ask Ms Brando Janet Arvizo’s demeanour before and after her change of plans to leave Neverland. Ms Brando noted that initially when she came and told she was going home with her Janet Arvizo seemed frantic and abrupt but later when she came to tell of her change of plans she was much more calmer. Ms Brando was not cross examined.

Mr Sanger conducted the direct examination. Prudence who is nine years old, goes to school and identified Jackson as her friend, Michael. It was also established that Prudence would visit Neverland a lot. Q. Can you tell me what you remember them doing around the ranch? A. Driving the golf carts and going on rides. Q. Okay. How were they at driving the golf carts? What did they do with the golf carts? A. They were crashing them. Q. Now, you say “crashing them.” Was it like by mistake, or what did you think they were doing? A. I think on purpose, because they were driving all crazy and going -- they were just driving crazy. Q. Okay. Did they ever say anything to you when they were driving the golf carts and they were -- let me ask you this: Did you ever see them crash the golf carts? A. A couple of times. Q. And what did they crash into; do you remember? A. Like when they turned, they would, like, skin the side of it. Q. Okay. Do you know if the Arvizo kids, Star and Gavin, would hang out around the zoo sometimes? A. Yes, they would. Q. And were they good to the animals at the zoo? A. Yeah. Mr Sanger proceeds to question Prudence about the time she witnessed the Arvizo boys at the Neverland theatre and amusement park. Q. What would you see them doing at the theater? A. They would be watching movies and stuff. Q. And did they get stuff while they were at the theater? A. Yes. Q. What would they get? A. Like candy, popcorn. Q. Okay. And that was there for people to have, right? A. Yes. Q. Okay. Did they go on the rides at the amusement park? A. Yeah. Q. What would you see them doing on the rides? A. Throwing candy off the rides. Q. Okay. Would they throw it at people? A. No. Mr Sanger continued to question Prudence Brando. Q.have you been in Michael’s private room in his house? A. Yeah. Q. And you know Prince and Paris, right? A. Yeah. Q. Who are Prince and Paris? A. His kids. Q. Michael’s kids? A. Yeah. Q. Okay. Have you gone in there with Prince and Paris? A. Yeah. Q. And what do you do when you go into his room? A. He just showed us around his room. Q. Did you watch T.V. in there? A. Yeah, for a couple minutes. Prudence Brando was not cross examined.
