更新：公开信的进展情况
Dear friends:
There have been some very unpleasant reports about media attempts to demonize Michael by distorting information from FBI files. This is exactly what we said in the Open Letter to the Media:
亲爱的朋友们：
近期有一些非常令人不愉快的媒体报导试图扭曲FBI档案上的资料去妖魔化MJ。这正是我们在向媒体的公开信里所说的:
“Opinions are routinely disguised as news, distortion of facts runs rampant, selective omission of facts and misuse of true or partially true information are commonplace. The extent of misinterpretations, falsifications and gossip spread by the media about Michael Jackson is atrocious. All this creates an impression that, chasing ratings, the media does not care about truth or proof.”
个人看法经常被伪装成新闻，歪曲的事实猖獗盛行，经常可以见到媒体选择性地省略事实及错误选用真实或部分符合事实的信息。媒体曲解，伪造和传播有关Michael Jackson流言闲话的程度是十分恶劣的。所有这一切造成了一个印象，为了追求收视率，媒体根本不关心事实或证据。
The current events make the Open Letter particularly relevant and timely and we feel that we owe you a progress report.
目前的事件使得我们的公开信别具意义和及时，我们觉得欠你们一个进展报告。
1) We closed the signature collection process about 10 days ago having collected 1,443 signatures. Compared to 50 signatures we began with, it is a success. Besides, as we are saying in the cover note, that the signatures were collected over a short period of three weeks only.
1) 我们大约在10天前停止收集签名，总共收集了1443个签名(嗯，比我想像中要少很多)。相比一开始时我们只有50个签名，这已经是很成功的。此外，正如我们在前言所说，我们只在很短的时间内约三个星期去收集大家的签名。
2) Nobody had expected the scope of logistics work: we had to create a logo and a template for the letter to look official. We registered a PO Box for feedback, acquired a domain address to set up dedicated e-mail addresses and a fax for the O/L distribution and created templates in several languages. Besides, we had to finalize the media list and split it.
2）没有人能预期组织工作涉及的范围之大：我们必须设计一个标志和公开信的样版好使一切有正式的感觉。我们还登记了一个邮政信箱以收取媒体的反馈意见，同时取得域名地址设立专门的电子邮件信箱和传真以便网上的发布，并提供了几种语言版本的公开信。此外，我们必须把媒体名单定案，然后把它分类。
3) We started by sending e-mails and faxes. There were a number of failed delivery messages and we decided to use regular mail to re-send the O/L to those contacts that we were not able to reach by e-mail and to back up e-mails to most influential media.
3）我们先以发送电子邮件和传真的方式开始行动。由于有一部份无法成功传送，我们决定使用普通信件的方式重新发送给那些我们无法以电邮的方式在网络上接触的媒体，并再次发送给那些最具影响力的媒体以确保他们能收到。
All in all, we have sent the letter to almost 1,000 addresses in 105 countries and sent over 200 envelopes by regular mail.

We are impatient for feedback though we need to be realistic: due to the holiday season and the festivities, we can hardly expect anything till well after the holidays.

All we can do now is to arm ourselves with patience and get ready to deal with media feedback, once we start getting it.

The project proved to be very exciting and its scope increased thanks to the contributions and helpful suggestions from all our friends in the forum. We were sending the letter with LOVE and in hopes that our voice would be heeded.
